LEA, a township, joint with Ashton, Ingol, and Cottarn, in the parish of PRESTON, hundred of AMOUNDERNESS, county palatine of LANCASTER, 85 miles (W. by N.) from Preston, containing 658 inhabitants. A school was erected and endowed with a rent-charge on an estate, in 17 84, by Samuel Neeld; the income is £90 per annum, and there are fifteen scholars.
