LECKHAMPSTEAD, a parish in the hundred of BUCKINGHAM, and county of BUCKINGHAM, 3 miles (N. E. by N.) from Buckingham, containing 519 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 15.13.4., and in the patronage of John Beauclerk, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, contains an octagonal font, ornamented with representations of the Crucifixion, St. Catherine, &c., rudely executed in basso relievo. There is an endowment of £15 per annum for a free school. This parish is divided into Church-end, Northend, and Lymes'-end; within its limits there is a chalybeate spring.
