LEGBOURN, a parish in the Marsh division of the hundred of CALCEWORTH, though locally in that of Louth-Eske, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 3 miles (S. E. by E.) from Louth, containing 412 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, endowed with £200 private benefaction, £200 royal bounty, and £300 parliamentary grant. The Rev. R, Powley was patron in 1800. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. A priory of Cistercian nuns, in honour of the Virgin Mary, was founded here before the reign of John, by Robert Fitz- Gilbert: at the dissolution, its revenue, was £57. 13. 5
