LEPTON, a township in the parish of KIRKHEATON, upper division of the wapentake of AGBRIGG, West riding of the county of YORK, 4 miles (E. by S.) from Huddersfield, containing 2729 inhabitants. A considerable quantity of woollen cloth, and some fancy goods, are manufactured here. Richard Beaumont, Esq., in 1703, left £10 for apprenticing poor children.
