LISSINGTON, a parish in the western division of the wapentake of WRAGGOE, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 4 miles (S.) from Market-Rasen, containing 183 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £12. 17 6., and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of York. The church, which is dedicated to St. John the Baptist, has some portions in Norman, and others in the early style of English, architecture. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
