LONGFIELD, a parish in the hundred of AXTON-DARTFORD-and-WILMINGTON, lathe of SUTTON at HONE, county of KENT, 5 miles (S. E.) from Dartford, containing 113 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Rochester, rated in the king's books at £5. 17. 6., endowed with £400 private benefaction, and £400 royal bounty, -and in the patronage of the Bishop of Rochester. The church, dedicated to St. Mary. Magdalene, contains the remains of the beneficent Archdeacon Plume, founder of the Plumean Professorship at Cambridge.
