LOXLEY, a parish in the Snitterfield division of the hundred of BARLICHWAY, county of WARWICK, 4 miles (E. S. E.) from Stratford upon Avon, containing 311 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in the king's books at £5. 6. 8., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. The parish abounds with limestone. British and Roman coins have been frequently found here.
