MADLEY, a parish in the hundred of WEBTREE, county of HEREFORD, 7 miles (W. by S.) from Hereford, containing 938 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, with the perpetual curacy of Tiberton, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £16. 1. 8., and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Hereford. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a large and handsome edifice, principally in the decorated style, with an embattled tower at the west end. There is a place of worship for Baptists. The petty sessions for the division are held here on every fourth Monday.
