MEON (WEST), a parish in the hundred of FAWLEY, Fawley division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 7 5 miles (N. E.) from Bishop's Waltham, containing 747 mhabit- ants. The living is a rectory, with the perpetual curacy of Privett, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £30. 17. 11., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Winchester. The church is a curious specimen of Norman architecture. There is a place of worship for Independents.
