MESSINGHAM, a parish in the eastern division of the wapentake of MANLEY, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 7 miles (W. by S.) from Glandford Bridge, containing, with the township of East Butterwick, 1103 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, with the vicarage of Bottesford, in the archdeaconry of Stow, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £10, and in the alternate patronage of the Bishop, and Dean and Chapter, of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
