MISTERTON, a parish in the hundred of GUTHLAXTON, county of LEICESTER, 1 mile (E. by S.) front Lutterworth, containing, with the chapelry of Walcote, and the hamlet of Poultney, 539 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, .and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £16.13.4., and in the patronage of Jacob Henry Franks, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Leonard. The river Swift, which at times rises and falls very rapidly, runs through the parish. James Blick, in 1730, left a trifling sum to provide books for poor children.
