MORETON (SOUTH), a parish in the hundred of MORETON, county of BERKS, 3 miles (W. S. W.) from Wallingford, containing 364 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Berks, and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £12. 15. 5., and in the patronage of the University of Oxford, in trust for the Principal and Fellows of Magdalene Hall. The church is dedicated to St. John. A small stream runs through the village, and upon it there are three papermills.
