MORTON-PINKNEY, a parish in the hundred of
GREENSNORTON, county of NORTHAMPTON, 8 miles
(W. by N.) from Towcester, containing 540 inhabitants.
The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of
Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, endowed
with £186. 15. private benefaction, £400 royal bounty,
and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Oriel
College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
A school-house has been recently built, in which the
children are taught upon the National system. There
is a mineral spring, the water of which is said to be
efficacious in healing diseases of the eye.
