NAILSTONE, a parish in the hundred of SPARKENHOE,
county of LEICESTER, 3 miles (N.N.E.) from
Market Bosworth, containing, with the chapelry of
Normanton le Heath, 574 inhabitants. The living is a
rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese
of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £24. 9. Q±.,
and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is
dedicated to All Saints. Nailstone is in the honour of
Tutbury, duchy of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction
of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday,
for the recovery of debts under 40a.
