NEWBOLD-upon-AVON, a parish in the Rugby division of the hundred of KNIGHTLOW, county of WARWICK, 2 miles (N. W. by N.) from Rugby, containing, with the hamlets of Cosford, Little Harborough, Little Lawford, and Long Lawford, 968 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £14. 12. 1., and in the patronage of the Rev. Mr. Parker. The church is dedicated to St. Bo* tolph. The rivers Avon and Swift, and the Oxford canal, run through the parish, in which are very extensive lime-works.
