NEWBROUGH, a chapelry (parochial) in the northwestern
division of TINDALE ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND,
4 miles (N. W. by W.) from Hexham,
containing 451 inhabitants. The chapel is dedicated to,
St. Peter. A school-room has been erected by subscription,
in which twelve children are instructed for £10
per annum, the gift of the Rev. H.Wastell, who also
built a house for the master.
