NEWNHAM, a parish in the hundred of BASINGSTOKE, Basingstoke division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 4 miles (E. by N.) from Basingstoke, containing 266 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with the perpetual curacy of Maplederwell, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £17. 17. l., and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Queen's College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas.
