NOCTON, a parish in the second division of the wapentake of LANGOE, parts of KESTEVEN, county of LINCOLN, 7 miles (S. E.) from Lincoln, containing 376 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of-Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7. 17. 11., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. A priory of Black canons, in honour of St. Mary Magdalene, was founded here, in the reign of Stephen, by Robert D'Arcy, which at the dissolution had a revenue of £52. 19. 2.
