NORTON (BISHOP'S), a parish in the eastern division
of the wapentake of ASLACOE, parts of LINDSEY,
county of LINCOLN, 10 miles (W. N. W.) from Market-
Rasen, containing, with the township of Atterby, 413
inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the
peculiar jurisdiction and patronage of the Prebendary
of Bishop's Norton in the Cathedral Church of Lincoln,
rated in the king's books at £9. The chtirch is dedicated
to St. Peter. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan
Methodists.
