NORTON (EAST), a parish in the eastern division
of the hundred of GOSCOTE, county of LEICESTER,
6 miles (W. by N.) from Uppingham, containing 120
inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, with the
vicarage of Tugby,. in the archdeaconry of Leicester,
and diocese of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to
All Saints. A small sum, the bequest of Catharine
Parker in 1747, is applied to teaching poor, children.
