NORTON (HOOK), a parish in the hundred ot CHADLINGTON, county of OXFORD, 5 miles (N.E.byN.) from Chipping-Norton, containing, with the township ot Southrope, 1351 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. There are places of worship for Baptists and Wesleyan Methodists. William Hobbs, in 1810, bequeathed £5 towards the support of a Sunday school, which is further aided by subscriptions, and an annuity of £2. 2. from the lessees under the Bishop of Oxford.
