OAKTHORPE, a hamlet partly in the parish of
MEASHAM, partly in that of STRETTON-en-le-FIELDS,
but chiefly in that of CHURCH-GRESLEY, hundred of
REPTON-and-GRESLEY, county of DERBY, 3 miles
(S. "W. by S.) from Ashby de la Zoueh, containing, with
the hamlet of Donisthorpe, 732 inhabitants. There are
places of worship for Baptists and Wesleyan Methodists.
Oakthorpe is in the honour of Tutbury, duchy
of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction of a court of
pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for .the recovery
of debts under 405.
