OAKWOOD, a chapelry in the parish of WOTTON, and first division of the hundred of WOTTON, county of SURREY, 9 miles (S. S. W.) from Dorking. The population is returned with the parish. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Surrey, and diocese of Winchester, endowed with £400 private benefaction and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Sir J. Evelyn, Bart. The chapel is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
