OGLE, or OGLE, a township in the parish of WHALTON,
Avestern division of CASTLE ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND,
7 miles (S. W.) from Morpeth, containing
148 inhabitants. There are slight remains of the
once strong fortress of Ogle castle, in which David,
King of Scotland, was confined . after the battle of
Nevill's Cross.
