OTTERBOURNE, a parish in the hundred of
BUDDLESGATE, Fawley division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
4 miles (S. S. W.) from Winchester, containing
565 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual
curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Hursley, in the
peculiar jurisdiction of the Vicar of Hursley. The
church is dedicated to St. Matthew. The Itchen navigation
passes through the parish, which is within the
jurisdiction of the Cheyney Court held at Winchester
every Thursday, for the recovery of debts to any
amount.
