PECKLETON, a parish in the hundred of SPARKENHOE, county of LEICESTER, 5 miles (N. E., by N.) from Hinckley, containing, with the hamlet of Tooley, 359 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £8, and in the patronage of the Rev. Mr. Cooper. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Pecldeton is in the honour of Tutbury, duchy of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for the recovery of debts under 40a.
