PENMAIN, a hamlet in the parish of MYNYDDYSIWYN,
lower division of the hundred of WENTLLOOG,
county of MONMOUTH, 12 miles (N. W.) from Newport,
containing 1425 inhabitants. There is a place of
worship for Independents, established upwards of a
century, in which service is performed in the Welch
language.
