PETERSHAM, a parish in the first division of the hundred of KINGSTON, county of SURREY, 7 miles (S. W. by W.) from London, containing 516 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Kew, in the archdeaconry of Surrey, and diocese of Winchester. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. Petersham gives the title of viscount to the family of Stanhope, Earls of Harrington.
