PETHAM, a parish in the hundred of BRIDGE-and-PETHAM, lathe of ST-AUGUSTINE, county of KENT, 6 miles (S. S. W.) from Canterbury, containing 536 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, with that of Waltham annexed, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £8. 0. 2., and in the alternate patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Sir J. C. Honywood, Bart. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is principally in the early style of English architecture. The parish is bounded on the east by the ancient Stane-street.
