POXWELL, a parish in the hundred of WINFRITH, Blandford (South) division of the county of DORSET, 6 miles (S.E. by S.) from Dorchester, containing 73 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, united, in 1749, to that of Warmwell, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £9. 5.5. J.Trenchard, Esq. was patron in 1781.
