PREESALL, a township, joint with Hackersall, in
that part of the parish of LANCASTER which is in the
hundred of AMOUNDERNESS, county palatine of LANCASTER,
6 miles (N. by E.) from Poulton, containing
700 inhabitants. Richard Fleetwood, Esq., in 1687,
built a school-house, and endowed it with an annuity of
£ 13. 6. 8., for which the children of parishioners are
taught to read.
