PURBRIGHT, a parish in the first division of the hundred of WOKING, county of SURREY, 6 miles (N. W. by N.) from Guildford, containing 472 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Surrey, and diocese of Winchester, endowed with £600 royal bounty, and £400 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of Henry Halsey, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. The Basingstoke canal passes through the parish.
