RAINFORD, a chapelry in the parish of PRESCOT,
hundred of WEST-DERBY, county palatine of LANCASTER,
5 miles (N. by E.) from Prescot, containing
1375 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy/ in
the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester,
endowed with £400 private benefaction, £400 royal
bounty, and £400 parliamentary grant, and in the
patronage of the Vicar of Prescot. There is a place of
worship for Independents.
