REDDENHALL, a parish in the hundred of EARSHAM, county of NORFOLK, 1 mile (E. N. E.) from Harleston, containing, with Harleston, 1641 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £20, and in the patronage of the Duke of Norfolk, on the nomination of the Bishop of Norwich. The church, dedicated .to St. Mary, is in the later style of English architecture: at the end of the north aisle is a sepulchral chapel of the family of Gawdy, dedicated to the AssumpR tion of the Virgin Mary, and containing many ancient monuments. Wm. Bancroft, in 1688, gave £900 for founding a public school, to which John Dove, in 1712, bequeathed £200.
