REPPS (SOUTH), a parish in the northern division of the hundred of ERPINGHAM, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (N. N. W.) from North Walsham, containing 656 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £16, and in the patronage of the King, as Duke of Lancaster. The church is dedicated to St. James. On a lofty eminence about a mile from the village are the remains of an ancient beacon, whence Norwich and Yarmouth are discernible on a clear day.
