RIPPINGALE, a parish in the wapentake of AVELAND, parts of KESTEVEN, county of LINCOLN, 4 miles (N.) from Bourne, containing 611 inhabitants. The living is a rectory in three parts, consolidated in 1725, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln; two parts are rated in the king's books at £14. 7.1., and the third at £7. 3. 9; it is in the patronage of the Governors of the Charter-house, London. The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is a large structure, partly in the decorated and partly in the later English style, containing several fine tombs, the principal of which being in a portion of the building used as a school, are much mutilated.
