ROPLEY, a parish in the hundred of BISHOP'S-SUTTON,
Alton (North) division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
4 miles (E.) from New Alresford, containing
730 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed
to the vicarage of Bishop's Sutton, in the archdeaconry
and diocese of Winchester. The church is dedicated
to St. Peter. Ropley is within the jurisdiction
of the Cheyney Court held at Winchester every Thursday,
for the recovery of debts to any amount.
