RUNHAM, a parish in the eastern division of the hundred of FLEGG, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (W. by S.) from Caistor, containing 211 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at & 4, endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Ely. The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul: a sum of money was bequeathed, in 1501, by Rose Dook, for erecting the steeple. A market, and a fair on the vigil and festival of St. Peter ad Vincula, were granted by King John to Robert de Evermere.
