SAHAM-TONEY, a parish in the hundred of WAYLAND, county of NORFOLK, 1 mile (N.W.) from Watton, containing 925 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £21. 19. 4., and in the patronage of the Warden and Fellows of New College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. George: the tower, erected about 1480, has upon it a representation, of St. George and the Dragon, carved in stone. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Edward Goffe, in 1611, bequeathed a house and land for a free school, to which another benefactor subsequently left other houses and land.
