SALTFLEET-HAVEN, a hamlet (formerly a market town) in the parish of SKIDBROOK, Marsh division of the hundred of LOUTH-ESKE, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 38 miles (N. E. by B.) from Lincoln. The population is returned with the parish. This was a town of some importance about half a century ago, but it is now decayed: the old town is said to have been destroyed by an inundation of the sea. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. A fair is held on October 3rd, and is celebrated for the show of good foals. Here is a very fine bed of oysters.
