SANCREED, a parish in the hundred of PENWITH county of CORNWALL, 4 miles (W. by S.) from Penzance, containing 1001 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £8, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter. Besides the church, here were three ancient chapels, of which there are still some remains. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
