SANDFORD, a parish in the hundred of WOOTTON, county of OXFORD, 3 miles (E. N. E.) from Neat-Enstone, containing, with the hamlets of Grove-Ash and Ledwell, 489 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £7- 0. 5., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in. the patronage of William Taylor, Esq. for two turns, and the Duke of Marlborough for one. The church is dedicated to St. Martin. Fifteen children are educated for six guineas a year, the bequest of Henry Meads, in 1T50.
