SANDHOE, a township in the parish of ST-JOHN-LEE,
southern division of TINDALE ward, county of
NORTHUMBERLAND, 2 miles (E. N.E.) from Hexham,
containing 180 inhabitants. This township contains
some fine mansions, commanding prospects of a richly
diversified country; and near the gardens of Beaufront
is a Roman Catholic chapel, now in disuse.
