SAXELBY, a parish in the wapentake of LAWRESS, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 6 miles (N. W. by W.) from Lincoln, containing, with the township of Ingleby, 561 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Stow, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 10, endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to St. Botolph. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
