SCALDWELL, a parish in the hundred of ORLINGBURY, county of NORTHAMPTON, 8 miles (N. by E.) from Northampton, containing 323 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £14. 0. 10., and in the patronage of the Duke of Buccleuch, The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul. Thomas Rowe, in 1665, bequeathed a rentcharge of £ 10 for teaching ten children of Scaldwell, and ten of Brixworth; and in 1735, Edward Palmer gave another of £3, for the instruction of three more.
