SCARRINGTON, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of BINGHAM, county of NOTTINGHAM, 12 miles (E. by N.) from Nottingham, containing 171 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Orston, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Scarrington is in the honour of Tutbury, duchy of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for the recovery of debts under 40s.
