SCOTTON, a parish in the wapentake of CORRINGHAM, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 8 miles (N. B.) from Gainsborough, containing, with the chapelry of East Ferry, 515 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Stow, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £23, and in the patronage of Sir Richard Frederick, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Genewys. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The parish is bounded on the west by the river Trent.
