SECKINGTON, a parish in the Tamworth division of the hundred of HEMLINGFORD, county of WARWICK, 3 miles (N. E. by E.) from Tamworth, containing 126 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £5. 16. 0., and in the patronage of Sir Francis Burdett, Bart. The church is dedicated to All Saints; near it are vestiges of a large ancient encampment. In the neighbourhood is the site of a small priory, founded by William Burdett, in the reign of Henry II.
