SESSAY, a parish in the wapentake of ALLERTONSHIRE, North riding of the county of YORK, comprising the townships of Hutton-Sessay and Sessay, and containing 493 inhabitants, of which number, 364 are in the township of Sessay, 6 miles (N. W. by W.) from Easingwould. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Cleveland, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £17. 0. 2., and in the patronage of Lord Viscount Downe. The church is dedicated to St. Cuthbert.
