SHELTON, a parish in the southern division of the
wapentake of NEWARK, county of NOTTINGHAM, 6
miles (S. by W.) from Newark, containing 105 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of
Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the king's
books at £6. 14. 4. The Rev. J. J. Maltby was patron
in 1814. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
